Japan Records 21.5 Million Foreign Visitors in First Half of 2025

Japan recorded 21.5 million foreign visitors in first half of 2025, breaking previous record of 17.78 million in 2024.

STR reported China hotel data for the week ended July 12th. China hotel RevPAR was down 4.7% year-over-year, despite being up against an easy comp of a decline of 13% in the year-ago week. China hotel ADR was down 0.4% for the week, as the drop was mostly due to occupancy, which was down 4.3% for the week.

China recorded over 38 million foreign trips in the first half of 2025, helped by an expanded visa-free entry and updated transit policies. The National Immigration Administration of China said foreign nationals made 38.05 million cross-border trips during this period, up 30.2% compared to the first half of 2024. There were 159 million trips made by mainland Chinese residents, up 15.9% year-over-year. Trips by residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan were up 12.2% to 136 million.
